WASHINGTON, DC: Today, Congresswoman Jen Kiggans (VA-02) announced she has been ranked as one of the most bipartisan Members of the U.S. House of Representatives by the Lugar Center and the Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy. Congresswoman Kiggans ranked 19th out of 435 Members of the U.S. House, placing her in the top five percent of Members. The top 20 included 10 Republicans and 10 Democrats, only six of whom were freshmen.

“It’s an honor to be named one of the most bipartisan members of Congress in my first term,” said Congresswoman Kiggans. “One of the reasons I came to Congress is because I was tired of how toxic politics had become. The American people send elected officials to Washington to deliver results and get government moving in the right direction, not endlessly fight with their colleagues. I’m proud to represent a diverse district with a wide range of viewpoints and will continue to work with anyone – Republican, Democrat, or Independent – who is willing to come together to help me deliver results for our Commonwealth and our country.”

“By ranking among the top 20 House Members on the Bipartisan Index, Rep. Kiggans underscored her clear intent to work across the aisle to find bipartisan solutions to problems.” said Dan Diller, Policy Director of the Lugar Center. “Her score was especially impressive for a first-year Member.”

The Bipartisan Index ranks Members of both the U.S. House and U.S. Senate on their willingness to cosponsor bipartisan legislation and their ability to attract cosponsors from across the aisle for their own legislation.
