NORFOLK, VA – Today, Congresswoman Jen Kiggans (VA-02), a Navy veteran and member of the House Armed Services Committee, visited Naval Station Norfolk to observe Large Scale Exercise (LSE) 2025, the Navy’s premier global warfighting command and control event.

During the visit, Rep. Kiggans received operational briefings at the Navy Warfare Development Center and the Fleet Maritime Operations Center. She also toured the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77), which is participating in the exercise. She met with senior Navy and Marine Corps leaders, strike group staff, and Sailors supporting the exercise from both shipboard and shore-based platforms.

“It was great to see firsthand how our Navy is training to stay ahead of the evolving threats we face,” said Congresswoman Kiggans. “As the representative for thousands of servicemembers in Hampton Roads, I’m proud to see our region playing such a central role in shaping the future of naval warfare. Exercises like Large Scale Exercise 2025 show exactly why high-end, integrated training is so important. We need to be ready to fight and win across every domain, anywhere in the world.”

LSE 2025 is the third iteration of this biennial exercise, designed to test advanced warfighting concepts, globally synchronize operations across 22 time zones, and validate the Navy’s new Global Maritime Response Plan (GMRP). Enabled by cutting-edge simulation technologies, the exercise connects real-world assets with virtual and synthetic environments to create a realistic, multi-domain threat scenario.

As the representative for Virginia’s Second District, home to the world’s largest naval base and a major hub of Fleet operations, Rep. Kiggans continues to champion readiness, modernization, and support for the servicemembers who protect our national security.

“From our carriers to our Combat Direction Centers to our Maritime Operations Centers, the work happening here in Hampton Roads is vital to our Navy’s ability to deter, defend, and win,” Congresswoman Kiggans said. “I will continue doing everything I can in Congress to ensure our Sailors have the training, tools, and resources they need to succeed.”
