WASHINGTON, DC: Today, Congresswoman Jen Kiggans (VA-02) announced that her office has saved more than $1,206,228 for constituents seeking help with federal agencies since she was sworn into office on January 7, 2023.

“I’m proud to deliver real results for Virginia’s Second District,” said Congresswoman Kiggans. “My office has helped over 1,400 people with federal agencies, saving them and their families a combined $1.2 million! No matter what’s happening in Washington, my focus will always be on providing the best possible services to those I represent. I encourage anyone who is having issues with federal agencies to reach out so my team can get on the case and do our best to resolve it!”

Below are success stories constituents agreed to share about their experience working with Congresswoman Kiggans’ office:

Alice R. from Virginia Beach (IRS)

I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to get my FY2020 refund processed since about October 2021. Once Congresswoman Kiggans and [her staff] took on the case the matter was settled very quickly.

Paul R. from Suffolk (VA)

I was having issues with getting my first appointment with VA healthcare. I do understand that they have a major caseload dealing with [a large] amount of veterans. I thought that contacting my Representative would help and it did.

Catherine C. from Virginia Beach (OPM)

[Congresswoman Kiggans’ office] contacted OPM to resolve a problem with my retired federal employee health benefits that I had been trying to get straight for 9 months. I had contacted OPM on numerous occasions and was misled, misinformed, and in general ignored, by everyone I had contact with there…Within a few days of my request to Congresswoman Kiggans’ Office for help, OPM contacted me and had everything straightened out over the phone in 15 mins. I am so thankful I brought my problem to her staff. It has restored, at least a little, of my faith in the government.

Carl H. from Chesapeake (State Department)

Jen Kiggans’ office was able to give me an update on the progress of my passport renewal in a timely manner. I had to reach out to Kiggans’ office because the on-line passport website was not helpful at all. I’ve never reached out for help from an elected official, I expected and answering machine BUT to my surprise I talk with a real person. The next day I received a follow-up phone call.

Cynthia D. from Virginia Beach (DoD)

I retired from the Department of Defense after 43 years of government service in 2022. After several weeks I had still not received my official retirement documentation from DFAS. Upon contacting DFAS, I learned that my retirement action had not been processed and I was not officially retired. Furthermore, DFAS had placed me in a leave without pay status and had taken away leave that was supposed to be paid out upon my retirement. After many phone calls and getting no sufficient answer other than to contact another office, I contacted Jen Kiggans’ office for help. Much to my amazement, a member of her office contacted me within two hours to tell me they were working it…After weeks of trying to get this resolved, Jen Kiggans’ office accomplished this in two days! The person in her office that worked this issue for me was polite, professional, and seemed to really care about my situation. My experience has shown me that Jen Kiggans is working for her constituents.

Reginald B. from Virginia Beach (VA)

Congresswoman Jen Kiggans contacted the VA and sped up the VA’s response to my vital financial issues. If not for the swift actions of Congresswoman Kiggans [and her staff], I would be in deeper financial trouble. I really appreciated…Congresswoman Kiggans’ help in solving my problem. They just don’t know how much this meant to me. Thank you!

Christopher B. from Virginia Beach (State Department)

Expedited a passport request for immediate travel. Impossible to even get through to passport office, and we were beyond out of time to do anything. Google search led me to contact my Congressional Representative, Congresswoman Kiggans, and she really came through quickly and with amazing results.
