WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Jen Kiggans (VA-02) introduced a resolution to recognize June 12th as Women Veterans Appreciation Day. This bill recognizes the service, sacrifice, and leadership of women veterans whose contributions have strengthened our Armed Forces and helped defend our nation.

Congresswoman Kiggans said, “Throughout my career as a Navy helicopter pilot, I had the privilege of serving alongside extraordinary women who answered the call to serve our nation. Today, more than two million women have worn the uniform and made invaluable contributions to our Armed Forces, and their service should never go unrecognized.”

“By designating June 12th as Women Veterans Appreciation Day, we honor the generations of women who have defended our freedoms and strengthened our military,”  said Kiggans. “As a Navy veteran, I am proud to lead this effort to ensure ALL of our servicemembers receive recognition for their achievements and sacrifices made to defend our country.”
