Agriculture

Farmers are the backbone of Virginia’s Second Congressional District and our Commonwealth as a whole. Agriculture is Virginia’s largest private industry, providing an economic impact of $82.3 billion annually and more than 381,800 jobs for Virginians. In fact, Virginia’s agricultural production is one of the most diverse in the nation, with many Virginia commodities and products ranking in the top 10 among all U.S. states. I am proud to support policies in Congress that empower Virginia’s farmers and agriculture industry.

Armed Forces

As a former Navy helicopter pilot, I believe the most basic responsibility of the federal government is to protect our nation and its citizens. When we fund our men and women in uniform, we do just that.

To deter rising threats and maintain the longstanding global peace our nation has experienced since the end of World War II, we must continue to provide the Department of Defense the funding needed to maintain a robust and modern military. That includes addressing quality of life challenges impacting our servicemembers and their families, such as housing and healthcare. As a third-generation veteran, military spouse, and mother to children who serve, I will always be the loudest voice for our military men and women in Congress!

Economy

In the midst of record-breaking inflation and an unprecedented national debt crisis, it is now more important than ever to pursue a commonsense, fiscally responsible agenda that meets the needs of the American people. I am committed to restoring strength in our economy by reining in wasteful spending, supporting pro-growth policies, and ensuring workers have the skills necessary to succeed in the jobs of today and those that will exist in the future.

Energy

Environment

Coastal Virginians know how to be good stewards of the environment without sacrificing jobs or hurting our economy. Not only is the Chesapeake Bay watershed home to roughly 3,600 species of plants and animals, but it also provides countless economic and recreational opportunities, generating $33 billion each year. I look forward to working with my colleagues in Congress and our local partners in Hampton Roads to support common-sense solutions regardless of party that will help us ensure the health and prosperity of our treasured natural resources.

Healthcare

As a geriatric nurse practitioner, I’ve had the privilege of caring for our Greatest Generation for many years. I’m proud to continue my work to provide patients with access to quality, affordable healthcare here in Congress. As the Vice Chair of the bipartisan Congressional Nursing Caucus, I am laser focused on finding solutions that will provide affordable and accessible care for Virginians and all Americans.

Immigration

I have been to the southern border and seen firsthand how the humanitarian and national security crisis there has spiraled out of control. This self-inflicted crisis is threatening the safety of Americans and emboldening cartels, which are making massive profits off of drug trafficking and exploiting vulnerable migrants. Enough is enough. I am committed to working with anyone, Republican, Democrat, or Independent, to solve the crisis at our southern border and stop the flow of illegal immigration into our country. We must restore the rule of law and support the law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line to defend and maintain our borders.

National Security

To combat the growing and complex national security challenges around the world, it is absolutely critical that we have a well-funded military and strong national defense. I am committed to ensuring that Virginia’s Second District has the tools to fulfill the critical role it plays in maintaining our nation’s strong defense force.

Public Safety

As a mom of four, the safety of our Hampton Roads communities is one of my top priorities.

In the State Senate, I fought tirelessly for our police, firefighters, EMS, and correctional officers to ensure they were fully funded and equipped with the best possible training and resources necessary to keep Virginia Beach safe.

Seniors

Older Americans have contributed to our communities throughout their entire lives – we owe it to them to provide the support and resources they need to age with dignity. As the only geriatric nurse practitioner in Congress, I am committed to fighting for policies that will lower the cost of healthcare, especially prescription medication, protect retirement benefits, and crack down on robocalls and scams. Rest assured, I will always put Virginia’s seniors first and advocate for our older adults.

Veterans

Having served for 10 years in the United States Navy and as the wife and daughter of veterans, I have a unique understanding of the issues facing our veterans today. These men and women were willing to put their life on the line for the freedoms we all enjoy, and we owe them a debt that can never truly be repaid. I am committed to providing them with the high quality care and services they have earned and deserve.
