Rep. Kiggans Joins Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Daryl Caudle for Visit to Naval Air Station Oceana
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Congresswoman Jen Kiggans (VA-02) joined Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Daryl Caudle, Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy John Perryman, Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana leadership, and local Sailors for a visit to NAS Oceana. The visit highlighted the installation’s critical role in supporting naval aviation, strengthening operational readiness, and preparing the Navy’s warfighters for missions around the world.
During the visit, Congresswoman Kiggans and Admiral Caudle met with NAS Oceana leadership for a briefing on the installation’s mission, current operations, infrastructure priorities, and future. NAS Oceana Commanding Officer Captain Rob Littman also discussed the installation’s ongoing priorities and the investments necessary to sustain its long-term mission.
Congresswoman Kiggans said, “As the Representative of Virginia’s Second District, I’m always honored to spend time with the Sailors and Aviators that keep our Navy ready to fight and win. I’m grateful to Admiral Caudle and MCPON Perryman for coming to Hampton Roads to hear directly from our warfighters and see firsthand the critical mission happening here every day. NAS Oceana is essential to our national security, and I’ll continue fighting in Congress for the people, infrastructure, and resources needed to strengthen readiness and support Oceana’s mission of mobile air superiority.”
The delegation visited Carrier Air Wing Eight (CVW-8), where Congresswoman Kiggans and Admiral Caudle participated in a simulator experience and spoke with aircrew about their training, operational responsibilities, and readiness. The visit also included an opportunity for MCPON Perryman to meet with the installation’s Chief Selects.
NAS Oceana is the Navy’s East Coast Master Jet Base and plays a vital role in the training and readiness of strike fighter squadrons assigned to the United States Atlantic Fleet. The installation supports thousands of servicemembers, civilian employees, and military families while serving as an important component of both Hampton Roads’ defense community and the region’s economy.
As the representative for Virginia’s Second District and a former Navy helicopter pilot married to a former F/A-18 pilot and current mother of a F/A-18 pilot, Rep. Kiggans remains committed to supporting America’s servicemembers, strengthening military readiness, modernizing defense infrastructure, and ensuring Hampton Roads continues to play a leading role in our nation’s defense.
