Kiggans Secures Nearly $80 Million for New VA Clinic in Hampton Roads
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Jen Kiggans (VA-02) announced that the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs has officially authorized $79.7 million for the construction of a new Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Hampton Roads. The project represents a major federal investment that will expand access to healthcare, counseling, and benefits for the region’s more than 76,000 veterans.
“This is a historic win for Hampton Roads and for every veteran who calls our community home,” said Congresswoman Kiggans, a Navy veteran and member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee. “Many of our veterans face long wait times or are forced to travel to receive basic care. This new clinic will change that. It’s about bringing world-class services closer to where our veterans live, ensuring they get the treatment and support they’ve earned.”
The new clinic will provide modernized medical services, mental health resources, and benefits counseling, offering a comprehensive hub for veterans’ healthcare needs. It will also serve as an economic catalyst, creating jobs and generating new activity in the region.
“I’m proud to have helped secure this investment,” Congresswoman Kiggans continued. “As someone who served and is part of a military family, I know how important it is that we honor our promises to those who’ve worn the uniform. This facility will do just that, delivering care with dignity, speed, and respect.”
House Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chairman Mike Bost (R-IL) praised Kiggans’ leadership in securing the funding.
“This project reflects our commitment to improving the delivery of care by ensuring veterans have access to the support they have earned,” Chairman Mike Bost wrote in a letter to Kiggans. “From medical treatment to counseling to community-based programs, the enhancements tied to this future VA facility are a direct investment in their well-being.”
Congresswoman Kiggans concluded: “This is just the beginning. I’ll keep fighting to make sure every veteran in our district, and across the country, gets the healthcare access and respect they deserve.”
