WASHINGTON, DC: Today, Congresswoman Jen Kiggans (VA-02) released the following statement after being selected to serve on the House Natural Resources Committee. The Committee, which is chaired by Rep. Bruce Westerman (AR-04), has jurisdiction over American energy production, fisheries and wildlife, public lands, oceans, Native Americans, irrigation and reclamation, and mineral lands and mining.

“It’s a great privilege to be selected to serve on the Natural Resources Committee,” said Rep. Kiggans.  “From the marshes of Accomack and Northampton to the coastal waterways of Virginia Beach, to the agricultural hubs of Suffolk and Isle of Wight, Virginia’s Second District is home to some of our Commonwealth’s most important natural resources.  I look forward to working alongside my fellow Virginian on the Committee, Rep. Rob Wittman, to protect the environmental health of our communities and ensure we continue to be good stewards of the environment without sacrificing jobs or hurting our economy. I’m ready to get to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to implement policies that accomplish just that by utilizing American innovation and resources!”

“Congratulations to my colleague, Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, on being selected by the Republican Steering Committee to serve on the House Natural Resources Committee for the 118th Congress,” said Rep. Rob Wittman. “Virginia, and particularly the First and Second Congressional Districts of Virginia, are blessed with an abundance of natural resources which we have a responsibility to steward and manage in ways that allow them to flourish for generations to come. The work we do on the Natural Resources Committee is vital to the wellbeing of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and I am confident that Congresswoman Kiggans and I will be able to work together to promote lasting and serious solutions on the committee.”

“I’m delighted to welcome Congresswoman Kiggans to the Committee on Natural Resources,” said Chairman Westerman. “We’ve never been more ready to advance a legislative agenda rooted in conservative principles and show our constituents that our policies will jumpstart our economy, unlock our resources and end our dependence on China and Russia once and for all. Let’s get to work!”
