Kiggans’ Bill Supporting Seniors at the VA Advances out of Committee

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Representative Jen Kiggans (VA-02) released the following statement after her bill, the Representing Our Seniors at the VA Act, advanced out of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee. This bipartisan bill would add new members to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Geriatrics and Gerontology Advisory Committee. These additions would include a representative from the National Association of State Veterans Homes (NASVH), an individual with experience serving veterans or their families in a state home, and a licensed nursing home administrator.

“Our seniors in State Veterans Homes deserve to have their voices heard at the VA,” said Congresswoman Jen Kiggans. “My Representing Our Seniors at the VA Act ensures that experienced state home leaders and licensed nursing home professionals are involved in the key decision-making that affects the care and quality of life of our aging veterans. By bringing these frontline experts to the table, this bipartisan legislation strengthens oversight and helps ensure our veterans in state homes receive the high-quality care and advocacy they deserve. I am proud this legislation advanced out of Committee and I look forward to it receiving a vote on the House Floor,” she concluded
