Rep. Kiggans Attends NDAA Signing Ceremony at White House

Washington D.C.— Rep. Jen Kiggans (VA-02) released the following statement after attending the signing ceremony for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) at the White House.

“As a member of the Armed Services Committee, I was proud to play an important role in drafting the FY 2026 NDAA and to see dozens of my provisions to strengthen our national security make it into the final version. This year’s defense bill reforms the acquisitions process, paving the way for faster innovation. Our servicemembers should have the best technologies available to defend themselves and this country. We have the greatest fighting force in the world and we must continue to make it even better,” Rep. Kiggans said.

“As a former Navy helicopter pilot, Navy spouse, and now a proud Navy Mom, I know how important it is to provide the quality of life our warfighters and their families deserve,” Rep. Kiggans stated. “That’s why I was proud to support a 3.8% pay raise and improved benefits for military families. We can never pay our servicemembers enough, but this is a good start.”

Rep. Kiggans continued, “As the representative of many shipyard workers and many of the servicemembers stationed at the world’s largest Naval base—Naval Station Norfolk—I am proud that this year’s NDAA invests $26 billion in American shipbuilding. As threats in the Indo-Pacific and elsewhere escalate, we need to ensure our nation is prepared to meet any conflict, including a multi-front war. This defense bill makes the investment in our national security we need to keep pace with our adversaries.”

“With the East Coast Master Jet Base, Naval Air Station Oceana, in our backyard, I am proud that this bill ensures Hampton Roads remains at the forefront of America’s naval readiness and requires the Navy to provide a detailed plan for basing F-35C squadrons. The FY 2026 National Defense Authorization Act embodies peace through strength. This is essential because we know that a stronger military ensures stronger deterrence. Whether it’s flying a Navy helicopter, caring for our veterans as a geriatric nurse practitioner, or representing Virginia’s Second District in the halls of Congress, I will never stop serving America and fighting for our great nation,” Rep. Kiggans concluded.
